As more people get familiar with the hit game, Clash Royale, more people will fall into the long struggle of being stuck in mid-ladder. Mid-ladder is a point in game progression where many players can struggle due to the number of aggressive decks being used and how perfect a player’s defense needs to be to defend these types of decks.
Daniel Hernandez is a mid-ladder player. Currently, he has around 7000 trophies. After being asked what some struggles with being in mid-ladder are, he responded with, “Having to basically play against Mega Knight in every match and people who spam Boss Bandit at the bridge.” Daniel added “I use Mini Pekka for these types of decks, but people just like to spam”. Daniel uses Mini Pekka to counter players who use tank-like cards, such as Mega Knight and Boss Bandit, which is effective but often becomes overwhelming with the amount that these cards are placed and used in decks.
Another player, Senior Jose Bahena, is a mid-ladder menace with around 8,000 trophies. When asked what type of decks he struggles with, he mentioned beatdown decks, including Goblin Giant, Goblin Machine, and Mega Knight. Bahena counters beatdown decks using cards like Inferno Tower but can still struggle against beatdown decks because of the overly aggressive play style that the decks offer. “The credit card is probably the most overpowered card in the game,” Bahena stated. “The credit card is the new method.” Players can use money to upgrade their cards, which can offer an unfair advantage to mid-ladder, since more people have lower-level cards compared to those in the top ladder.
A big struggle among mid-ladder players seems to be the increasing popularity of high health/damage cards used and how effortlessly these cards can win the game. Mid-ladder also consists of a fair amount of beatdown decks, which are decks with aggressive offense, which mid-ladder players struggle defending against. While players do have counters to these types of cards, it can become overwhelming since mid-ladder has more players with an aggressive play style.
