What are you doing to get ready for the season? If you’re stuck on what to do, then you’ve come to the right place!
One great way to plan for the Halloween month and get into a transition from fall to Halloween is pumpkin patching! There are multiple ways to enjoy pumpkin patching. Enjoy the car ride there and support a rural farm. Usually, pumpkin patches consist of different activities such as corn mazes, apple picking, petting zoos, gift shops, and fresh foods (apple cider, donuts, apple pie, bread, etc.). The trip may be overall pricey, with an entry price of about $20-30, and additional things such as food, gift shops, and the weighing price of a pumpkin. A popular local patch is Bengtston’s Farm, located about 45 minutes away in Homer Glen, IL.
Plus, after picking fresh apples and pumpkins, you’re able to do a variety of things with them, such as making a fresh apple crumble with ice cream and apple pie. You can also make fresh pumpkin seeds after carving and gutting your pumpkin. Emily Marin, a Senior, is excited about carving pumpkins. “Carving pumpkins is a great use of pumpkins after a pumpkin patch.”
Sophomore Kailey Sanchez agreed, saying, “I’m looking forward to going to pumpkin patches with my family and friends.”

Scary films, anyone?
“Having a list of movies is a must when entering the month of October,” said Riczabeth Brenes, a Senior who is looking forward to watching scary movies this year. Having an idea of movies to watch is great for family movie nights, friend hangouts, or even scary movie dates. Of course, accompanied by sweet treats to top it all off! Start off with a cartoon Halloween classic, or even Halloween franchises like Michael Myers and A Nightmare on Elm Street! Moving closer to Halloween, watch horror movies like the classics of The Conjuring series.
