On September 23, 2024, the Cigarettes after Sex concert was held at United Center. The band consists of romantic and sad songs that are loved by all. As someone who’s been a fan for years and who attended the concert, I’d say the experience and expectations were met, it was my first concert so I didn’t know what to expect.
The indie trio fronted by Greg Gonzalez was in town as part of the X’s world tour, a 64-date rally with performances in 28 countries spanning the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The album X’s – the band’s third mainstream release – debuted in July 2024 to critical acclaim.
The beginning of the concert startled many when everyone suddenly started screaming and the lights shut off. The band finally showed up and the first song they started with was X’s.
The setlist was mostly of popular songs and some new songs that they made this summer like Tejano Blue. They played many favorites and most songs were recognizable. Though the set list was amazing, there was very little interaction with the fans and many were disappointed.
“I personally loved the concert though I did wish that they interacted with the crowd more. Other than that it was perfect, the groups vocals were amazing, it was all so surreal. I loved every song that they played, the special effects they added with the lights made it even more special and magical. Them playing my favorite song, Heavenly, made the experience 10 times better. Hearing your favorite song live just makes your song even more special and to say that I did is something I will always be grateful.” Is what Martinez from Morton West had to say about the concert.
“I have been to a Cigarettes after Sex concert before and in comparison to the recent one I went to, I loved it so much more. They were more organized, it was in a bigger setting and the overall vibe was just much better. The set list was great too. I especially liked apocalypse for the light show, it made the experience all the worth while.” Quinnell said about her second experience at the concert.
