Fall Fest 2021 Promises Food Trucks, Fall Fun, and More

While there is no dance in the plans for this year’s Homecoming because of concerns over Covid-19, Morton West is working to come through in the clutch by providing a unique alternative:  Fall Fest.

Scheduled for 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, Fall Fest at Morton West’s campus is slated to host a number of fall-themed events and activities.

There are loads of activities to do such as pumpkin painting, outdoor games, arts & crafts, photo booths to take pictures with friends, and more.

“I don’t have enough time to hang out with my friends, so I’m looking forward to it,” said junior Jhanlo Espedido. The marching band member said he is typically busy with practice, playing lead guitar for his band PDA, and working as a caddie at Riverside Country Club, so the option to hang out on the weekend at a large school event is a welcome relief.

Another highlight of the fest for hungry Mustangs? Food trucks. Junior Karen Serna said the opportunity to sample a bunch of Berwyn’s best eats while hanging out with friends is something she wouldn’t ordinarily get to do. Serna and fellow junior Hermiony Garcia are rooting for a vendor to save the day with some chicken sandwiches.

“I’m hoping Chick-fil-a has a truck there,” Garcia laughed.

Other students, like senior Destiny Hotseller, are just pleased that the school is providing an event in light of the dance being canceled on account of public health. “I’m excited to go to Fall Fest, although I’m kind of bummed that Homecoming got canceled,” Hotseller said. “At least there’s something in replacement for Homecoming.”

With her calendar filling up, senior Cassandra Aguilar was disappointed she can’t make it to the school’s alternate to Homecoming. “I can’t go, but if I had the chance I would probably take it and go because Fall Fest sounds okay,” said Aguilar.
