2017 Hollywood Homecoming – the Sequel!

Lights, Camera, Action! The paparazzi were ready to spring into action last Saturday for Morton’s 2017 Hollywood Homecoming, but a nasty, record-breaking heat wave forced Morton West to postpone the dance until this Sat., Sept. 30.

The postponement has given students the chance to celebrate some of the same great spirit days for the second week in a row. Tuesday, Sept. 25 was “movie shirt” day, while Wednesday is “Maroon From Head to Toe,” Thursday is “Throwback/Class Pride Color” day (with uniform pants/shoes), and Friday is All Black with Sunglasses.

They are expecting more than 2,000 students to come to the Dance, according to West Principal Josh McMahon. Students can expect a DJ, plenty of Hollywood-themed decorations and a great time at this year’s 2017 Hollywood Homecoming Dance, McMahon added.

Tickets are also back on sale – and guest paperwork will be accepted – until 3:30 p.m. Sept. 28, in case students missed their first chance to get them. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

“I definitely like this year’s Hollywood theme better than last year’s Hawaiian theme,” said senior Melanie Leon. “More people are interested and a lot more people are talking about it. I think it also helps that I’m a senior this year, and it’s our last Homecoming.”

Senior Tyler Bradley concurred:  “I think it’s just going to be fun to hang out and dance. I’m going to be looking and judging what people wear, because I love fashion, and people go out – and sometimes overboard – with their clothes and makeup.”
